Resolving GPS Tracking Issues

    Last updated October 2, 2025

    Overview

If a truck is not appearing on the live dispatch map — or its position appears frozen or inaccurate — use this guide to quickly identify and resolve the issue. Most GPS tracking problems are resolved in under five minutes.

    Common Causes

    • The truck's mobile device is offline or has lost its cellular data connection
    • The GPS sensor has temporarily lost signal — common in tunnels, underground areas, or dense urban environments
    • The Dispatch360 Driver App is not running in the background on the driver's device
    • The driver's app needs to be updated to the latest version
    • The device has been restarted but the app has not been relaunched

Quick Fixes — Try These First

    1. Ask the driver to confirm their device is powered on and has an active cellular data or Wi-Fi connection. Check that the data signal shows at least 2–3 bars.
    2. Confirm the Dispatch360 Driver App is running. The driver should open the app and verify they are logged in and on the active job screen.
    3. From the dispatcher dashboard, use the map refresh button to force a location update. This resolves most temporary display issues.
    4. If the truck is still not visible, ask the driver to close and reopen the app completely — do not just minimize it.

    If the Issue Persists

    • Ask the driver to restart their device completely and relaunch the app after the device is back online.
    • Check whether other trucks in your fleet are showing correctly. If only one truck is affected, the issue is specific to that device.
    • Contact Dispatch360 Support at +1 (888) 998-7767. Our team can run remote diagnostics on the specific device to identify the root cause.

    Prevention

    • Keep all driver apps updated to the latest version — updates often include GPS performance improvements
    • Remind drivers not to force-quit the Dispatch360 app while on shift — this stops location reporting immediately
    • For persistent GPS issues with a specific device, our hardware team can assess whether the GPS unit needs recalibration or replacement

Tip: If GPS tracking is consistently unreliable on a specific vehicle, it may be a hardware issue rather than a software issue. Contact support and we will diagnose remotely before dispatching a technician.
